A deafening Silence (Dec 3rd, 2023)

We have all seen the footage of this beautiful young girl dragged by her hair into the car by those savages. It had played so many times on all media channels after Oct 7th, as if it were set on an infinite loop. I remember one of the presenters saying: ‘That poor girl, she was so scared she soiled herself’. Really?! Is that what you think happened in the back of that Jeep?! Have a closer look at the colour of those stains! And hers is only one horrifying story amongst so many, barely countable now. I try not to think of her family, who would have had to see that footage again and again.
I have never heard human atrocities described as Mass Rape before. I know it has happened to other peoples who have been subjected to genocide by violent, Islamist extremists. But never have I come across this term until now.
I expected many to deny, excuse, justify, and lie about what happened on Oct 7th. They always do. But the deafening silence of deniers took me back this time, especially the silence of woman’s rights groups everywhere. And the longer it continues, the louder it becomes. With only a few lone voices echoing through this resounding silence, I post any such call to accountability, by any woman who speaks out against women’s rights groups she once truly believed in, and trusted.
I think the shock for me, lies in the nature of these groups. I thought being a woman was the unequivocal condition for support and protection. But I was wrong; Apparently, to these groups, having rights as a woman is subject to qualifications of religion, culture, and nationality, to name a few.
I didn’t think it possible for me to be shocked and disgusted anymore, by the hypocrisy of people worldwide. But again, I was wrong. This war presents many firsts.
